This works is part of a set of four short pieces that Elizabeth composed sometime before 2012 to showcase locations around lutruwita/Tasmania that meaning for her. (The others being Sisters Beach; The Tarn Shelf; and Salamanca Market)
The Hazards are a mountain range located in the Freycinet National Park on the East Coast of Tasmania. The range extends from Coles Bay to Wineglass Bay and consists of five mountains: Mayson, Amos, Dove, Baudin and Parson. They are made up of granite and they have a pink tinge to them which comes from Orthoclase (an important tectosilicate mineral which forms igneous rock)
