Don writes…I wrote this for Emma, my grand daughter for her 12th birthday, 30th June 2009.
It is an adaptation of the main melody in my “Mathinna in the Red Dress” for String Orchestra. The same 8 bar tune was first composed for my “String Quartet, No.5 – A Tragic Life”.
The oboe part could well be played on any instrument suitable to that range, such as flute, violin, clarinet, or even muted trumpet
Both “Mathinna in the Red Dress”, & “String Quartet No 5 – A Tragic Life” are published by TSO House
This work was completed on the 15thJune 2009 at his home in Taroona, Tasmania
