KAY: Mathinna’s Lullaby

Mathinna’s Lullaby for Oboe & Piano (2009)

Don writes…I wrote this for Emma, my grand daughter for her 12^th birthday, 30^th June 2009.

It is an adaptation of the main melody in my “Mathinna in the Red Dress” for String Orchestra. The same 8 bar tune was first composed for my “String Quartet, No.5 – A Tragic Life”.

The oboe part could well be played on any instrument suitable to that range, such as flute, violin, clarinet, or even muted trumpet
