Angela Polden

 There has never been a time when Angela was not immersed in music. Born into a family of musicians and music-lovers, she developed her own musical skills with piano, music theory and voice study as well as pedagogic qualifications to form the basis of her music studio from where she works with a wide variety of musical styles, and for a wide variety of purposes.

Flexibility is the key to surviving in regional areas and Angela has built a diverse set of skills which has seen her undertake a range of work, all of which informs her music. Starting from an education based mostly in science and music, Angela has most recently taught English and History at high school and continues to be actively performing, teaching and writing music. Angela’s has three adult sons, a daughter-in-law and granddaughter and a poodle, as well as extended family, all of whom are musical.

Living with synaesthesia, Angela explores connections between colour, shape and texture with her musical experiences and composition. These explorations also overflow into her favourite recreational activities of fibre art and gardening. Her spiritual connection with the Tasmanian landscape and its creator provide most of the stimulus for her music writing and her Christian faith secures a sense of purpose and direction for her life.

Angela is equally surprised and grateful that she lives in Devonport; the same city where she was born and which is very close to coastal, countryside and mountain inspirations.
